Why Should I Care About Child Abuse?

1 in 4 girls will be sexually abused by the time they are 18 years old. Similarly, 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused by the time they are 18 years old. In Chautauqua County alone, 5 school buses worth of incidents get reported annually, but over 40 buses worth of incidents go unreported.

From volunteers to educators to donors, being an active participant in the mission to end childhood sexual abuse is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. If child sexual abuse can be prevented, it can be stopped. Through awareness, education and prevention, children can move from silence to exuberance. Adults can move from ignorance to empowerment. And with help from our friends at Darkness 2 Light, we intend to confront child abuse with courage in our communities.
