Part-Time Forensic Interviewer:
Reports To: Forensic Interviewer (Stephanie Gruber)
Hours: 8 hours weekly 1-5 Monday and Wednesday
Salary: $18.00 hourly
JOB PURPOSE The forensic interviewer will serve as an integral member of Chautauqua County’s Multi-Disciplinary Team. The forensic interviewer conducts interviews of children who are potential witnesses in investigations of sexual and/or physical abuse or have witnessed violent crimes in accordance with standardized and nationally-recognized forensic interview practices. Interviews are conducted where requested by law enforcement, child protective services, or prosecuting attorneys. The forensic interviewer will interact with professionals from other disciplines and agencies involved in abuse investigations and/or provision of services with children and families. The forensic interviewer will also provide testimony in court or in other court-related proceedings as required by agencies of the multi-disciplinary team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct sensitive and thorough forensic interviews of children during regular business hours and occasionally after-hours on site in the Jamestown and Fredonia office or off-site if required.
- Participate in supervision, peer review, and ongoing training activities.
- Maintain paperwork and DVD collection for interviews that can be used for training purposes.
- Ensure that data from the interview, and any services provided, is entered into NCAtrak.
- Participate in pre and post interview meetings with multidisciplinary team members and appropriate family members.
- Receive critique as to interview protocol, style, and quality of interview from MDT members.
- Document services provided to children and families according to agency requirements and Office of Victims Service (OVS) guidelines.
- Participate in a monthly peer review and monthly self-review of own interviews.
- Stay informed on the latest child abuse issues, research, journals, protocols and interviewing techniques.
- Participate in at least eight hours of training annually.
- Work closely with Multi-Disciplinary Team on scheduling, conducting and follow-up from interviews
- Work a flexible schedule as required by responsibilities of the position.
- Fulfill other duties as requested by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Forensic interview training or other interviewing/investigative experience required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services and 3 years Law Enforcement, Child Advocacy, Child Welfare/Services, or Mental Health preferred; Minimum Associate Degree in relevant field and 6 years Law Enforcement, Child Advocacy, Child Welfare/Services, or Mental Health required.
- This position requires frequent travel between our offices, and the successful candidate will have either a vehicle and valid NY State driver’s license and proof of valid insurance, or demonstrate access to reliable transportation.
- Bilingual skills in English/Spanish preferred.
