The Child Advocacy Program of Chautauqua County (CAP) held its 4th Annual Diamond Dinner Auction April 26, 2014, at Chautauqua Golf Club. The event is CAP’s signature fund raising endeavor, applying proceeds to CAP’s mission of ending child abuse in Chautauqua County and bringing healing, hope and justice to children impacted by abuse.
Media One Group’s Andrew Hill was the host and master of ceremonies. The capacity-crowd enjoyed a delicious banquet catered by Andriaccio’s. Arrick Davis of Jamestown was selected as the 2014 Champion of Children. Mr. Davis is employed as a Youth and Family Advocate with Chautauqua Striders and has also dedicated significant time and commitment to youth and sports development programs in the Jamestown area.
In partnering with CAP to promote the Diamond Dinner, sponsors show commitment to children throughout Chautauqua County. “The Diamond Dinner is our main fundraising event and we are grateful for our amazing sponsors” notes CAP Board of Directors President Marcia Bliss. Event sponsors include: Media One Group (WWSE, WJTN, WHUG, WKSN, WQFX); SKF, FSC Systems; Cummins; Aloral.com; Jamestown Pediatric Associates; Zonta Club of Jamestown; Moore & Myott, LLP; DFT Communications; Lakeshore Paving; Carlson’s Jewelry Smithing; Liberty Winery; Vie for Fitness; Southern Tier Pediatrics and The Legend Group.
Chuck and Kathy Ludwig of Ludwig Auction & Reality Co., Inc., energized the crowd, culminating in auction proceeds of $10,000. Again this year CAP auctioned counseling sessions so that children in need receive treatment at no cost to families. “Auctioning counseling sessions prompts a flurry of bidding activity. Our guests love helping children and used their hands, hearts and voices to help children heal from abuse” notes Jana McDermott, CAP’s Executive Director.
Rounding out the evening, one lucky guest took home a beautiful diamond necklace, compliments of Carlson’s Jewelry Smithing.
